Remuneration: R468,459.00 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting and implementing CGE’s research and policy mandate. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research, including fieldwork and research data collection
  • Conceptualising research projects and related research activities
  • Participating in the implementation of the Research Department’s Annual Plan of Action
  • Administering and supporting research department projects
  • Participating in departmental workshops, seminars, and presentations of research findings
  • Contributing to public debates and policy processes on gender-related issues
  • Liaising with internal and external CGE stakeholders
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department or Deputy Director

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Hold a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Social Sciences or a related behavioural science qualification
  • Have at least three (3) years’ demonstrable research experience using quantitative or mixed-methods research on gender-related issues
  • Demonstrable professional research report writing experience with a publications record
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Be willing and able to travel extensively within South Africa for research fieldwork
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Key Competencies Required

  • Sound knowledge of gender issues and familiarity with the CGE mandate
  • Strong research, data gathering, and analytical skills
  • Project management and organisational skills
  • Computer literacy and experience with quantitative or mixed-methods research methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Research report writing and presentation skills
  • Typing skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to speak at least one African language (added advantage)
